Sarah Martin, radio producer from Radio Adelaide and The Wire, interviewed Michael Schubert about the process of making the documentary on silence. She explored the thinking behind the idea and the processes involved in transitioning from the usual SoundMinds 15 minute podcast to a 30 minute long form documentary.
Michael Schubert from SoundMinds was successful in his application to the National Features and Documentary Series mentorship program. He produced a 30 minute documentary with support from the Community Media Training Organisation and his program is broadcast on the Community Radio Network and available for download for all community radio stations in Australia. The news got better. He won the award for the National Features & Documentary Series for the project at the CBAA [Community Broadcasting Foundation of Australia] Annual Conference and Awards in Melbourne.
The London School of Economics invited Dallas Rogers from SoundMinds to contribute a blog post consisting of an edited version of two podcasts with an accompanying commentary by Dr Jacqueline Nelson (UTS, Racism Scholar, pictured). The two podcasts were The Migrant the Refugee and the Border and Navigating the City as a Young Muslim.
